Single Use Mixers

We offer two main mixing platforms from Thermo Fisher Scientific that address the needs of proper preparation of media, buffers, and other process liquids. These are designed for the liquid/liquid and powder/liquid mixing of media, buffers, intermediates, final products, process liquids, and suspensions—with all the benefits of single-use technology. Mixing systems are based on two different yet efficient mixing systems—a bottom-driven impulse mixing system, and a top-down driven mixing system based on traditional stainless steel mixing principles.

Single-use BioProcess Containers

BPCs are ready-to-use, single-use flexible container systems commonly for critical sterile liquid-handling applications in the biopharmaceutical industry.

BPC systems are cost-effective alternatives to conventional stainless steel systems. They employ a novel design approach that helps increase shop-floor productivity. BPC components are readily integrated into a variety of high-performance systems for all steps in the production of biologics.

The three main types of BPCs are highlighted below, which are Thermo Scientific 2D Labtainer and 3D Productainer BPCs, and tank liners. Specialty BPCs are also available for specific applications and use in bioprocess equipment.

2D Labtainer BPC systems

This is the design for small, simple BPCs from 50 mL to 50 L. Labtainers are produced from two sheets of film that are heat-sealed around the perimeter to form a pillow-shaped chamber. The ports are heat-sealed into the end seal or onto one of the chamber’s film panels.

3D Productainer BPC systems

This design is used for larger and more complicated BPCs. A square tube is formed by heat-sealing 4 sheets of film together. Top-, and bottom-porting options are available in a range of sizes from 50 L to 5000 L, with a greater degree of chamber complexity.

Tank Liner BPC systems

This design is used for non-sterile operations including mixing and waste collection. Tank liners remove the need for tank cleaning and help reduce cycle times. Tank liners are optimized for use with Thermo Scientific drums and cylindrical tanks.

Rebel-Amino Acids Analyzer

Under 10 minute – Monitor amino acids and media composition over the course of the cell culture process. Identify depleted nutrients and refine supplementation strategies on the fly. Correlate media composition to product yield and quality.

The REBEL is a novel, dedicated cell culture media  analyzer designed for  rapid, easy, and efficient  amino acid and nutrient  analysis. Combining award  winning design with 908 Devices proven capillary electrophoresis  and high-pressure mass spectrometry technologies, the REBEL provides process development scientists  access to critical data at-line, any time.

MAVERICK

Real-time, in-line bioprocess analysis and control, right out of the box. Measurements of multiple critical parameters across media, across processes, across mammalian cell lines, across scales.

MAVERICK is powered by Raman spectroscopy and a purpose-built de novo model. The de novo model is explicitly built on media chemistries and device physics, not on empirical data. It automatically interprets the spectra and quantifies process parameters enabling simultaneous measurements of glucose, lactate, and total biomass. This is achieved without the costs, complexities, and risks associated with conventional Process Analytical Technology (PAT) methods. There is no need to grapple with complex empirical models, reagents, or unreliable auto-sampling systems to implement in-line bioprocess analysis.

Multiplex Flex  Up to six measurement modules can be connected to a single MAVERICK hub. Independently monitor process conditions and control feeds in multiple bioreactors, in real-time, simultaneously. Save valuable bench space and increase efficiency.

TRACE C2

On-Line Fermentation Analyzer – Monitor key nutrients and metabolites on-line and control feed automatically. TRACE C2 Control lets you maintain optimal fermentation process conditions for laboratory or industrial cultivations of microorganisms.

TRACE C2 offers online monitoring of methanol or ethanol and control of substrate feeding. There’s no direct sampling, so there’s no volume loss. Only real-time insights and real-time control for optimal productivity of your fermentation process.

With TRACE C2 connected to your fermenter, you can quickly get up and running with 30 automated measurements per hour. No pipettes. No contamination risk. No babysitting your fermenters during off-hours. Diffusion probe is installed in a fermenter and connects to TRACE C2 measurement cell with a pre-configured tubing set. Only methanol or ethanol molecules are small enough to diffuse through the semi-permeable membrane into the buffer fluid, so there is no loss of bioreactor volume and no increased risk of process contamination.
